Story
It’s hard to describe someone that you may have never met but we hope that upon reading this that you too have someone like this in your life and if not that you will meet one soon for as Halina always showed us it is never too late in life to love, learn and give of yourself.
Where to start.......
Halina’s family and friends were asked to describe her. “A force of nature”,
loving, intelligent, colourful, fun, diligent, caring, generous, inspiring, “her kindness was limitless” and “Halina led a life which inspired and released you from your self imposed barriers “ were just a few.Halina battled cancer twice in her life and never, ever let it dampen her love for life or her desire to improve the lives of others. Indeed, when she retired from her professional career in 2012 due to ill health did that stop her......absolutely not! Undeterred she reached out and grabbed everything with two hands.......Nordic walking instructor, massage therapist, gym therapist, British Cycling (women’s Breeze rides), professional cake maker, volunteer lead walker for health walks on Ashdown Forest, Consultant for Neal’s Yard products......there really was no stopping her. Halina was always doing something, learning something or teaching something.
Halina thoroughly embraced all of these roles helping and educating as many people as she could including many patients and families in her role of volunteer for Hospice in the Weald. Throughout this time she tirelessly fund raised for various charities and particularly for Macmillan Nurses who cared for her through her two cancer diagnosis’s. Truly a force of nature always thinking of others even in her darkest of times.
Halina loved firstly Dan (the love of her life!), her family and friends, her wonderful dogs, her beautiful garden and the Ashdown Forest that she walked on every day....... and so that is why so many of the friends she made through her life wish to raise funds to purchase a picnic table at the Ashdown Forest Centre in her memory.
When asked to describe Halina the two hospices who cared for her, St. Wilfrids in Eastbourne and St. Peter and St. James at Chailey said “beautiful inside and out”. Nobody could have described her any better!
A lioness right to the end.
