About The Indigo Childcare Group
In summary the Indigo Garden project will deliver:
• At least 6 learning sessions for children and staff
• At least 4 events where parents and/or relevant community members will be involved.
• The development of a fruit/veg/herb garden at two locations.
• Two new trees
• At least 4 new community connections with others in the community interested in gardening and growing.
• 2 sustainable guttering systems to recycle water.
In the medium to longer term, The Indigo Garden project will:
• Develop the skills of nursery staff to ensure the longer-term sustainability of the work in the nursery for future families to come.
• Develop the skills and knowledge of parents to be able to extend the learning at home with children and with support from nursery look at their own mini growing gardens at home.
Beyond the obvious outputs of the programme, The Indigo Garden Project will contribute to:
• Ongoing language and communications development of the children and young people supporting the nursery work in closing the attainment gap.
• Developing the children’s understanding of the environment and community around them and the important role they play in sustaining that.
• Support the general health and wellbeing of both the children and their families.
