Robert Clark, much loved partner, son, brother, uncle, colleague and dear friend, died suddenly on 9th of December 2020, aged 48.
Robert was an experienced and respected Radiological Protection professional and inspector in ONR for over 10 years. He was popular with colleagues and well respected by dutyholders. Prior to working for ONR, Robert provided health physics support at Capenhurst, Imperial College, NNC and Sellafield.
Robert had a wonderful knack of knowing just what to say and when to say it. He was calm in a crisis; if something went wrong and Robert was there, you could be sure that it would all be okay in the end... He had a wicked sense of humour and was an accomplished gardener, chef and singer. He loved travelling (both in the UK and further afield) and rambling, having completed a number of long distance walks including the Coast to Coast and the Sandstone Trail. His enthusiasm for work, people, science, space, music and the arts in addition to always focussing on doing what is ‘the right thing to do’ continues to inspire many of us.
We are struggling with the loss of a brilliant inspector, great friend and mentor and life seems impossible for his partner, Andy, and their families right now, but he would want everyone to treasure the happy memories that have been created together and be glad of what we all had.
Robert was a life member of The National Trust and in lieu of flowers, Robert would have preferred for donations to the trust in his memory.
