Story
You've read the blog, you've heard the stories, you've imagined the horror of the wetsuit on a fat man. Now, it's time...
I'm doing the Bournemouth Sprint Triathlon on 6th July, ostensibly because it's there and I want to. But in the short time I've been training for this triathlon, I lost a close friend to cancer (http://icanbuttri.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/in-which-i-lose-friend.html). It's just one more to add to the list of people I and my family have lost to this disease, including my dad and my grandad. So I can't pass up the opportunity to raise money for a most valuable cause.
But wait, this is a BOGOF! For if you raise my target of £300, I will also throw in - free of charge, gratis, for nowt - the Pier to Pier swim the following week*. That's 1.4 miles of sea swimming, three times the length that I have to do in the Sprint Tri, and far far more than I've ever swum before. This is the stuff of nightmares.
So, I'm really hoping that you won't bother.
(* subject to availability. And if not, I'll just damn well do it on my own the next day)
