Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be taking part in; Ride the North 2011. This is a three-day fundraising cycle ride run in support of UCAN and of urological cancer patients throughout the North of Scotland.
I love to spend time on the road but have never undertaken anything like this before....I expect 3 days in the saddle will be a challenge!

No matter if the donations is £1 or £100...they will all make a difference :-)
Ride the North, 2011
Ride the North is a cycle challenge in support of the fight against urological cancer. A 220 mile circuit of Scotland’s North East completed over three days in June 2011 (2nd, 3rd and 4th) will raise funds for UCAN, supporting efforts to develop a centre of excellence for care and treatment of patients across the North of Scotland.
Day One: 76 miles
Much of the first stage cuts through the agricultural land of North Aberdeenshire. The route passes through Udny Green, Tarves, Haddo, Maud, New Pitsligo, Pennan, MacDuff, Banff, Portsoy and Foryce on the way to Cullen on the Moray Firth coast. The route features more climbing than might be expected and some very nasty short climbs on the Banffshire Coast.
Day Two: 80 miles
The route heads south on the way from the Moray Firth to Donside and then on to Deeside in the Eastern Cairngorms. The first section between Cullen and Keith features some isolated forest roads (all tarmac) and some steady climbing. Beyond Keith the scenery really begins open up on the spectacular road to Cabrach and the equally spectacular road from Cabrach to Lumsden. The final section of the day will be the most testing with the climb from Corgaff over the hill to Gairnshiel Lodge and down to Ballater on Royal Deeside.
Day Three: 63 miles
This is the shortest of the three stages, but dominated by the climb over the Cairn o’Mount as the routes crosses from Deeside to the Howe of the Mearns before finishing at Stonehaven.
Taking the South Deeside road the route passes Aboyne, Potarch and Feughside before the small matter of the Cairn o’mount raises its beautiful head. There is a sharp drop down to Fettercairn before looping back around from Luthermuir and the border with Angus, through Auchenblae to finish back on the North Sea coast at Stonehaven Harbour.
