Story

No words are adequate to express our feelings of relief when we crossed the threshold of Hospice in the Weald Kent.

Ann and l entered into its domain and were welcomed with open arms.

The compassion and care is second to non, first in its class, and has been a most humbling experience for all.

We thank them from the bottom of our hearts, as  without them we would have been adrift and helpless. The whole team guided us through  the most difficult period of our lives.

Sadly as is the case with a hospice not every one comes through.

My wife Ann passed away on Friday 05 March 2021 after an 8 night stay. This happened with care, dignity, compassion, love and we were both treated with incredible kindness and tenderness.

All the doctors, nurses, carers, reception, management, everyone are shining beacons and ambassadors for the medical fraternity and hospice’s and deserve the highest praise and accolades that can be bestowed on them.

“Angel's in disguise"  so caring with high emotional intelligence, common sense, decency and love. They extended to us the utmost courtesy and compassion  caring demeanour which reflect so well on the whole organisation.

Nothing appeared to be too much trouble, with every possible small and large requirement provided for you; food drink, beds, safety, beautiful rooms, beautiful views of lovely gardens, privacy,  a place of serenity, tranquility and care.

When we crossed the threshold we had not even thought to consider any cost implications and that is when we discovered that this incredible organisation is almost totally reliant on Charitable contribution to meet its annual budget of £8M, and the service to both my wife and l was totally FREE. (NB l believe NHS contribute £1M per annum)

This revelation was incredibly humbling and for this reason we have pledged to help raise money for this wonderful organisation. The memory of my wonderful wife Ann will live on, knowing that she is helping all the other people suffering with cancer who will be able to seek refuge in this haven and wonderful oasis towards the end of their journey.

She and I are proud to become Ambassadors for The Hospice in The Weald and would ask you to please be so kind as to make any donation you can afford to this very worthy cause, large or small  so they can carry on caring and loving those in need.

Our thanks and gratitude in anticipation.
