MEET FREYA MORGAN
Running for refugee rights
Freya is committed to fighting for the rights of migrants in the UK…so much that she became the Human Disco Ball to get more eyes on her cause!
Her sparkly costume wasn’t the only thing driving donations…Freya ran an astounding 2,500km, led events, and played booming disco music to get people dancing in her journey to make a difference.
Watch how Freya took her idea and made it real.
Freya’s on a mission to showcase how refugees can be integrated into the UK in a kinder, more effective way. In addition to bringing people together through sport, solidarity, and positive celebration, she’s studying to become a human rights lawyer to provide support and legal aid for migrants in her community.

"All we really wanted is to show that there is a more compassionate way to approach immigration in the UK, because people are more compassionate than you think."
- Freya Morgan
The project as a whole came from Freya’s lived experience and passion for human rights. And the Human Disco Ball was born out of Freya’s personal mental health experiences in the past, which led her to take up running and get people talking.
Freya’s become a recognisable public figure, leading warmups, hosting fun runs, and making people smile, while raising over £21,000 for Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID). She’s reached thousands of people and continues encouraging the world to move towards a more compassionate approach to immigration.
- 203 runs completed
- 2,500+ kilometres run for charity
- £21,000+ raised on JustGiving
