Angel Mums’ story

This group of eight Mums came together and took on a charity skydive, in memory of their children, all aged between 2 and 17, who tragically lost their lives to brain tumours. Devastatingly, many were given a 0% survival rate upon diagnosis.

Most of the group were terrified of heights – but were driven by a need to make a change in memory of their children.

Together, their bravery raised over £77,000 for the Tessa Jowell Foundation – a charity that aims to transform current research, treatment and care so that every child diagnosed with a brain tumour will have access to world-class treatment.

Since then, the group has, heartbreakingly, grown in numbers, acting as not only a fundraising group, but a reliable, supportive network for other parents who have experienced this unimaginable loss.

Team Corinne’s story

In November 2022, at the age of just 42, Corinne was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

Chris, Rich, Liz and Jo have rallied around Corinne – working together to organise a mammoth calendar of fundraising events, all for Motor Neurone Disease Association. The group, along with friends, work colleagues and family, have taken on various challenges every month of 2023 – since Corinne’s diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease.

From marathons, mountain climbs, open water swims and football matches – there’s nothing this group hasn’t done to support Corinne throughout her diagnosis and help find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease. Corinne herself has took on Skiddaw – which, at over 3,000ft, is the highest point in the Northern Fells.

The group has raised over £32,000 for the cause, in hopes of finding a cure.

Wonky Heart Challenge’s story

In 2013, Paul and Karen were left devastated by the loss of their eldest son Harry, who tragically lost his life to suicide at the age of 17.

Ten years later, in the middle of the night, Paul woke up to find that Karen was no longer in bed. She was downstairs, frantically brainstorming an ambitious charity venture, having woken up and realised that they were approaching the ten-year anniversary of losing Harry.

Together, they embarked on an ambitious journey, challenged by both being lapsed cyclists and very unfit: cycling 586 miles across England and Wales, tracing a wonky heart-shaped route.

Their mission? To shine a light on young people’s mental health. “Not a day goes by when we don’t think about him, however time has now helped to make us strong enough to do something positive in his memory.” Their love for him endures, woven into every mile they rode, helping them raise over £63,000 for PAPYRUS in Harry’s memory.”
