Angel Mums’ story
This group of eight Mums came together and took on a charity skydive, in memory of their children, all aged between 2 and 17, who tragically lost their lives to brain tumours. Devastatingly, many were given a 0% survival rate upon diagnosis.
Most of the group were terrified of heights – but were driven by a need to make a change in memory of their children.
None of us want to see others go through what our children have. We are spurred on because we’ve seen our children so bravely face surgeries, chemo, radiotherapy, painful immunotherapy, countless drugs and tablets, MRIs, and needles.
- Angel Mums
Together, their bravery raised over £77,000 for the Tessa Jowell Foundation – a charity that aims to transform current research, treatment and care so that every child diagnosed with a brain tumour will have access to world-class treatment.
Since then, the group has, heartbreakingly, grown in numbers, acting as not only a fundraising group, but a reliable, supportive network for other parents who have experienced this unimaginable loss.

Wonky Heart Challenge
Raised +£63,000 on JustGiving for Papyrus
Karen and Paul cycled 550 miles for PAPYRUS in memory of their son Harry, who tragically lost his life to suicide after receiving his A-level results.
Wonky Heart Challenge’s story
In 2013, Paul and Karen were left devastated by the loss of their eldest son Harry, who tragically lost his life to suicide at the age of 17.
Losing him in such a sudden and terrible way shattered us, our family and friends – an act so unexpected that whilst the impetus was a poor set of exam results, no-one had any idea of why this precipitated a decision so final as to take his own life.
- Wonky Heart Challenge
Ten years later, in the middle of the night, Paul woke up to find that Karen was no longer in bed. She was downstairs, frantically brainstorming an ambitious charity venture, having woken up and realised that they were approaching the ten-year anniversary of losing Harry.
Together, they embarked on an ambitious journey, challenged by both being lapsed cyclists and very unfit: cycling 586 miles across England and Wales, tracing a wonky heart-shaped route.
Their mission? To shine a light on young people’s mental health. “Not a day goes by when we don’t think about him, however time has now helped to make us strong enough to do something positive in his memory.” Their love for him endures, woven into every mile they rode, helping them raise over £63,000 for PAPYRUS in Harry’s memory.”
