Story
Asha Vidhyashram School was started in March 1995 with the purpose of educating underprivileged children in Balaju Height, Kathmandu. The school admits only those children whose parents received little or no schooling. The aim is to give these children a chance to break free from the grip of poverty by providing quality
education in a loving environment. The school teaches on average 185 students per year and operates in a rented building in Balaju Height. It is primarily funded by donations from HOPE worldwide UK.
Emphasising quality education, the programme makes provision for suitably qualified teachers, teaching and learning material, uniform, bags and stationery for the children, nutritional requirements, and recreational facilities like indoor games.
The target that we are looking to raise is 4,000 GBP. This would be enough to pay the salaries of 3 teachers for the year which represents
about 25% of the teaching staff at the school. These teachers will help to educate roughly 46 students for the year. This will make a dramatic impact to not only the children’s lives but to the lives of their families and have positive ripple effects among the community.
