Simon & Jillian's Marathon Challenge

Simon & Jillian's Marathon Challenge · 9 January 2018
Thanks for visiting our JustGiving page.
In June 2017, a very dear friend of ours, Maureen Waters, spent just over 3 weeks being cared for as an in-patient at Hospice in the Weald during the final stages of terminal colon cancer. The tranquillity of the Hospice, the care that she received and the compassion of the staff was second to none. Sadly, Maureen passed away shortly afterwards.
Jillian will be running the London Marathon on 22 April and Simon the Hamburg Marathon on 29 April. Maureen was always very interested in our running activities so we would like to run these races in her memory and to raise money for the charity that gave her so much help at a very difficult time.
We started our training just before Christmas and expect to run over 800 miles each before our big days. Our aim, all being well, is to finish in a time of 3hrs 30mins. This will be a challenge for both of us as Jillian has not yet completed a marathon in this time and Simon was unable to run for most of last year due to an injury.
Some examples of what funds raised could be spent on include:
£150 - the cost of a home visit to a terminally ill patient.
£200 - funds a patient to use the Hospice Day Service.
£550 - funds a bed for a day on the In-Patient Ward.
Please help us to support this very worthwhile cause by donating as much as you can and to help motivate us during those long, dark, cold and wet training runs. If you are a UK taxpayer, don't forget to claim Gift Aid on your donation. This means that the taxman will give a further 25% to Hospice in the Weald, at no extra cost to you.
