Story
We are alumni of Love of Learning, having spent 9 incredible years on campus. It was here that we both truly learned to LOVE learning. This school sparked an excitement within us, to be curious and to want to learn more.
When we graduated and went on to public school, we learned that many students felt that learning wasn't cool or were apathetic about their opportunities. We couldn't relate to that, as we had been in a wonderful school, where the teachers really knew us. Where we could work at our own pace and level. Where we could sled when it snowed and we were outside in our natural environment and helped take care of it. Where we worked on the floor, earned responsibility and followed the rule of three.
Love of Learning empowered us, instilled in us to have a good work ethic, to be resilient, to be part of a community, to work as a team. We would love to have everyone have that opportunity.
So we are starting "High Five for the Love of Learning".
We are asking alumni like us to give $5 toward the Tuition Assistance Fund, so students who want and need to be at a school like Love of Learning can be here. You remember how amazing it was to be here! If we all kick in $5, we can make that happen! As Mr. Thompson always said "Many hands make for light work"
Not an alumni but you understand that many children learn differently and might need a non-traditional schooling? Please chip in $5 and help.
Feeling generous and want to give more? Thank you! That is very much appreciated by all of us who have called Love of Learning Montessori School home.
Love of Learning Montessori School has been a beacon of alternative education on Long Island for over 21 years.
This year, many schools are closed, leaving students to learn on devices and technology all day. Students are struggling with the challenges of being remote, physically and emotionally.
Here at Love of Learning, we are in person, 5 days a week every day since opening in September. Our students are thriving this year as they learn in our outdoor classrooms and build social connections with their friends and teachers. They are supported socially and emotionally, in addition to being academically challenged.
COVID-19 has had a crushing effect on our ability to offer Tuition Assistance. While we understand community support of Healthcare is important, we cannot forget that our children need resources and support as well.
We need the continued generous support of our community to make alternative education available to children of all social/economic situations.Thank you.
