Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Daniel's JustGiving page (for more information, please visit the Help Daniel Find His Feet website).
Daniel is six years old and lives in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. He has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, which results in his muscles being very tight, particularly in his legs. This means he can’t walk, must rely on a wheelchair, and many day to day tasks such as dressing and toileting himself are either very difficult or impossible for him. He is often uncomfortable and very tired because his body has to work so hard to do every little thing. Despite this, Daniel rarely complains about the physiotherapy and endless hospital appointments, not to mention the activities he misses out on due to being disabled. He is a wonderful little boy, who adores learning, values his friends and is thriving in a mainstream primary school.
There is no cure for cerebral palsy, but Daniel has been offered hope in the form of a life changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR), carried out at St Louis Children’s Hospital in the USA. This operation, followed by intensive physiotherapy could give Daniel far better mobility, and greatly increase his independence, as well as making him generally more comfortable and reducing the need for orthopaedic surgery in the future. We need to raise a huge £54,000 to take Daniel to St Louis and contribute towards critical rehabilitation after he gets back. Please help us give him this chance to 'find his feet'.
Tree of Hope are helping us to raise money for Daniel. ALL money donated is ring-fenced for Daniel and will be used to help him find his feet.
