Story
On Saturday 22nd June, myself and 49 Hays colleagues are going to be cycling round the foot of the summit of Wales highest mountain, Snowdon. We will then climb the mountain and when we’ve reached the top, I’ll probably eat a mini Colin the Caterpillar cake to celebrate (have such a sweet tooth!!) before climbing down and returning to our bikes to cycle back. This is a 50 kms challenge (31 miles) and we’re doing this in an attempt to raise £50,000 for the charity Every Youth. Every Youth is a national charity for 16-25 year olds facing
homelessness. They are a wonderful charity who help vulnerable young people access mental health support, enter meaningful employment and secure a home of their own. It is Hays chosen charity this year and we want to try and support them as much as we can.
There are 50 of us trying to raise £50,000, so we are all responsible for raising £1,000 each. I really want to reach my £1000 target so I can contribute to the team goal. I’m training everyday - boxing, jogging on a stairmaster (which I hate!), cycling, weight training and swimming. I am varying my exercise so I improve my muscle mass as well as my cardio fitness to give me the best chance of completing the challenge as quickly as possible but enjoying it too. On the plus side, hopefully I’ll lose a bit of weight for the Summer … (maybe not if I keep eating Colin the Caterpillars though hahaha!!)
