Story

In July I’m swimming from Dover to Calais through the busiest shipping lane in the world. No wetuits are allowed, so it will be cossie, swimhat and goosefat. Essentially, swimming naked with jelly fish.

I'm petrified of jelly fish. Also pretty anxious about the thought of swimming in the dark with 120 metres of abyss below and only my overactive imagination for company. And wish I'd never read about eels getting stuck in my swimsuit (time to stop googling).

The crossing will be between 22 and 30 miles, dependant on the tides and currents, the water will be around 14 degrees and we're likely to be out for 15 + hours. I talked four lovely colleagues and War Child CEO, Rob into joining me! (Hur hur). We're doing a relay.

I want to raise lots of money for War Child. So yes I am unashamedly milking this (did I mention the jelly fish?). They’re doing amazing work with kids and families affected by war in Syria, CAR, Congo and many other countries. I work closely with War Child and in February was able to spend time with them in Uganda. I couldn't ask for much more motivation than seeing for myself. This challenge is well worth a few unpleasant hours if It gives someone some sparkle and a different future.

You getting behind me means a lot! That email notification you get when someone's just sponsored you really is a massive boost. It will make me even more determined and it will make me smile.  :)

EVERYTHING I RAISE GETS DOUBLED BY MY COMPANY, WHICH IS RATHER TRES BON.

Thanks for visiting my page, I will be sure to bring you back a Calasian pebble.
