Change Grow Live Cambridge

Welcome to my Just Giving page raising money for Change Grow Live Cambridge by climbing Snowdon on Fathers Day.
The target is £5000. This is the average cost of a 28 day alcohol rehabilitation stay in the UK. Change Grow Live are a fabulous charity that can facilitate this process and offer support to anyone affected by alcohol and drug misuse.
These charities need more support. As a recovering alcoholic, it’s opened my eyes to how deeply it can affect not only the alcoholic’s life, but the lives of loved ones. Many people can’t afford this life saving professional input, so this fundraising will help to give someone the chance to beat their addiction.
Paul Casey, a much loved father, son and my dear friend for many years, passed away last summer and is sorely missed.
The grief I went through after losing Paul was the first time I’d grieved without using alcohol to numb the pain. My alcohol intake spiralled after the death of my brother Adam, and without realising, I was becoming an alcoholic. However, Paul and I both enjoyed a short period of sobriety together that was made possible by Change Grow Live Cambridge and were very much looking forward to a much happier life together without alcohol. Sadly, lockdown struck. Lonliness set in. Paul relapsed. I miss his laugh and smile every single day.
Me and my daughter Carmen, would like to positively remember Paul and the huge change that I’ve made to all of our lives, by climbing Snowdon and remembering him at the summit with a bottle of Nosecco.
Thank you ☺️
