Story
As some of you may already know, in October 2019 our best friend Helena unexpectedly passed away at the young age of 18. On that day all of our lives were changed forever. It is devastating losing someone so close to you, especially when that person is as incredible as our Helz. We all experienced life with Helena in different ways, from growing up together, to seeing the amazing person she became. We could go on and on for days telling stories and sharing memories about our lovely friend Helena, these moments we will treasure forever.
Finding the words to sum up her incredible personality and how special she really was to us is an impossible task. She has impacted our lives in so many extraordinary ways and will continue to do so. We must now carry on stepping forward together, knowing that Helz will be right there by our side. We know she would laugh at the thought of us attempting to run for one minute straight, let alone 21km... so the idea we are giving her something to laugh at is enough motivation to push us over the finish line. Helz really did take every opportunity as it came so when the possibility for us to take part in this half marathon came up, we all knew we had to jump in with two feet and start running...
Participating in this event will be tough, but it will never compare to these past 18 months of learning to live without our best friend. This is why we are running in aid of Child Bereavement UK. Their aim prioritises supporting families and friends that have lost loved ones at a young age and helping them to rebuild their lives. There will be 9 of us running (Lauren Tabelin, Lucy Shreeves, Charlotte Margossian, Amy Pemberton, Katie Bruce, Matt Carr, Bex Ailles, Izzy Sankey, and Georgia Willis) to raise £2,100 for 21km. We hope you can help and support us along this journey.
