UPDATE
Hello everyone.
Unfortunately due to the current Covid 19 outbreak and subsequent lockdown and social restrictions we are postponing the fundraising activities. As a staff team currently working in the heart of this outbreak we will continue to try and think of new fundraising ideas which may be able to be carried out sooner. If any of our supporters have any ideas or wish to be involved in some way then please contact us at haineshouse@togethertrust.org.
Thankyou everyone, the Haines team xx
ORIGINAL POST
Haines house is a residential home ran by the Together Trust that homes young people who have autism and autism related conditions. When somebody has Autism it can mean that they perceive and interact with the world differently. Because of this it can sometimes be difficult to find activities that are easily engage-able and educational.
After seeing one of the young people we support using an interactive touch table at school, and seeing how much he engaged with it and enjoyed this we felt this would be an incredible thing to be able to have in their home lives. A tilt and touch table is an incredible piece. of kit - it is a very durable, portable interactive fun and educational experience. We feel that the touch table would enrich the lives of the young people by providing a fun outlet for them as well as supporting their education.
As this is a very high tech, incredibly user friendly piece of technology, it costs a lot of money and so we are going to be looking to raise £2500 to buy this. In order to fund-raise this money we plan to do the following fundraising events:
1.) A trek up Mount Snowden on 17th June.
2.) A stall at the Together Festival on 25th July - more details to follow
3.) A walk from Haines house to the Together Trust Head Office - A walk that is over 15 miles to be completed in August 2020.
Each member of Haines house staff will be taking part in at least one of these events as well as helping to organise. Our family and friends will also be taking part in these events in order to try and raise as much of the target as we can.
This will be an extremely difficult challenge for everyone involved and so please give anything you can in order to support and spur us all on and ultimately make a difference in the lives of the young people we support.
Please check this page regularly for more details about the events and updates on how our training is going and please share this with all of your friends and family. Thankyou to everyone who supports this cause and helps us to achieve our goal.
