The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, founded in 1923, has over 11,000 members in a network of Branches and Affiliated Groups worldwide. Working with talented musicians, they organise local dance events, classes, and teaching workshops to promote “fun, fitness and friendship” amongst dancers.

Story

Scottish country dancing has been a huge part of my life and given me a massive amount of joy. I started dancing in Dufftown at the age of 10 and was taught by Jessie Stuart. She's a huge inspiration to me and I'm sure it's because of her teaching (and the kindness of the Dufftown class) that I'm still dancing today!

At 16, on the advice of Mo Rutherford, I attended the RSCDS Summer School in St Andrews. This is when I joined the RSCDS and have been a member ever since.

For 100 years the RSCDS has been working to promote and preserve Scottish country dancing. I, and thousands of others, have benefited hugely from the global network of the RSCDS which provides fun, fitness and friendship.

Scottish country dancing is a rich part of Scotland's culture and we are determined to ensure that the RSCDS continues to modernise and make Scottish country dancing relevant in the modern age. Your support in helping with the promotion and preservation of my favourite hobby - Scottish country dancing - would be very much appreciated
