Story
Instead of funeral flowers, Gareth's family would like to invite you to donate to a charity close to our hearts: the Yorkshire Dales Millenium Trust. We feel this small charity, headquartered in the small village of Clapham near our home, will honour the memory of our dear father, husband and friend.
Gareth actually worked for YDMT many years ago and shared its vision for the nature and people of the Dales. He loved to take long walks around our local area with his camera. All the photos in the gallery were taken by him on these Yorkshire walks.
See below for more information on the charity and Gareth's connection with it:
Over the last 25 years, the small charity 'Yorkshire Dales Millenium Trust' has delivered inspirational projects in the Yorkshire Dales and the surrounding area - from apprenticeships and refugee work, to the planting of native woodlands and wildflower meadows.
YDMT recognise that the future of our countryside depends on inspiring more people to care about the natural world. Every day they see the benefits of helping people to get out into the countryside to combat health problems, learn new skills and revitalize rural communities.
David Sharrod, YDMT Chief Exec, shared:
"Gareth worked for us some time ago now, back in the early 2000s, but he is fondly remembered. There are a number of us still at YDMT who remember working with him. We pride ourselves on a ”family atmosphere” at YDMT and still definitely think of him as one of our own. We are all deeply saddened; our condolences to all of Gareth’s family and friends."
How your donation may be used:
1) To restore native woodlands in the Yorkshire Dales
- creating habitats that could sustain hundreds of species of wildlife
- absorbing carbon
- enriching the landscape for future generations to enjoy
2) To create a “living bouquet” (wildflower meadow)
- just £25 will help create a living area of wildflower meadow, home to wildflowers, bumblebees, birds and butterflies
3) To fund innovative projects to inspire, support and empower young people and refugees to learn new skills and create positive environmental change in their local area
