Story
A group of intrepid daredevils at NHS London Procurement Partnership (NHS LPP) based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ have accepted the challenge to abseil 160ft down the North Wing of St Thomas’ Hospital on 11 Sept 2021 to raise money for the Guy’s and St Thomas’ charity!
We’re abseiling to celebrate the amazing achievements of our Guy’s and St Thomas’ colleagues during the pandemic and every penny we raise will go towards new specialist equipment, staff wellbeing initiatives and life-saving research. Last time the St Thomas’ Abseil took place two years ago, £182,000 was raised which helped our hospitals and NHS community services change the lives of thousands of patients. Following the pandemic, the NHS LPP Daredevils want to help them smash this record.
I’ve chosen to specifically fundraise for Guy’s Cancer, which supports early detection, innovative treatments and survivorship programmes. My Dad was treated at the Guy’s Cancer Centre for bowel cancer in 2016-2017. Despite a brave fight, we unfortunately couldn’t beat it, but I’d like to raise money for the place that looked after him so well so more people can. Many years previously, he abseiled down Charing Cross Hospital for a charity fundraiser
and I know it would make him smile to see me do something similar. I’m not a great fan of heights so I hope I can be as brave as him!
Anything you can give towards my efforts would be very much appreciated - I need to raise a minimum of £300 but if we can go beyond that, it would be amazing!
