Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
What is Ramadan?
Ramadan is the month of fasting for 30 days. The last 10 days of which are remaining. During this time Muslims will not eat or drink from sunrise until sunset and abstain from sexual activity and using any form of bad language. It is a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, heightened devotion of worship, reading the holy book, (Quran), increase acts of giving to charity and doing good deeds. It's also a time to think of those people in underprivileged countries who have no access to food or clean drinking water.
There are exceptions for those who are sick or have health conditions that prevent them from fasting, and women who are pregnant or menstruating are not permitted to fast.
Before sunrise, we will have breakfast ( known as Sehri) and another as Iftar) after sunset. At the end of the fast when the sun has gone down usually families and friends get together for iftar to break their fast.
Here are a few known health benefits of fasting
Purifies and cleanses your body
Helps prevent health problems
Improves mental health and wellbeing
Helps to overcome bad habits
My Challenge
I am challenging any non-Muslims who would be interested in joining me to try fasting for one day or more to raise money for Penny Appeal. It will be great to have a number of people participate to make the challenge more exciting! Please email me at zubee@accessmyevents.co.uk with the words challenge accepted or simply dontate. The more people, the more money we can raise. I would also like you to share your experience through a short video or by writing a short piece that I can share on my social media channels and website.
Any amount received will be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)
