This project celebrates our 25th birthday through delivering a national spoken word poetry training programme which has developed the creativity and confidence of thousands of young people from across the countrys most deprived neighbourhoods. The project will culminate in an extraordinary, record breaking continuous 25 hour poetry marathon in Londons West End on World Poetry Day, bringing together over 500 young performers. The event will be live streamed across the world and all poems will be published in a book.
I know I wish I will called on all young people to join in by writing a poem in response to the theme I know I wish I will. Asking what they know about themselves and the world around them, what they wish was different and what they will do to make a change, the project aims to engage and empower young people. We have had over 1000 unique poem entries from across the country (and the world) exploring topics such as knife crime, the environment, homelessness and identity.
