"The need of quiet, the need of air, and I believe the sight of sky and of things growing, seem human needs, common to all men" - Octavia Hill, founder of the National Trust.
2020 marks the 125th anniversary of the National Trust - a charity founded in 1895 to look after the wild and wonderful places across the UK and to provide access to green spaces for everyone.
As a member of the National Trust, I have been lucky enough to visit and enjoy many of the magical places the National Trust looks after. The Trust is the country's largest conservation charity with almost 800 miles of coastline under its protection. However, it has been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and expects to lose £200m this year as a result.
To help support the National Trust recover from the pandemic, I will be running and walking 125km (coinciding with its 125th year) over the course of September. I will attempt to complete some of this distance in places looked after by the National Trust (preferably those with flatter terrain!). Please support me in this effort through your generous donations - I will be kicking it off with a £125 donation from myself. The entire amount raised will be going to support the work of the National Trust. Find out more for yourself here https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/our-cause
"The nation's beautiful places belong to everyone" - National Trust Director-General Hilary McGrady.
