Story

My Wife Lucy Patey was diagnosed with a rare heart condition Long QT as the age of 22; following a number of seizures and after being admitted to hospital after testing for Epilepsy which was confirmed negative; Lucy was ready to discharge herself .

She was then told "you will drop dead if you walk out of the hospital" ! Chilling words to hear at such a young age!

Not only was Lucy at high risk of going into a cardiac arrest, she also on the basis of her diagnoses lost her career at sea on P&O cruises! A double blow... with two life changing situations at such a young age.

On a positive note; at least Lucy's heart condition was picked up before it was too late.. other young people have not been so fortunate

Lucy now aged 34 has had a challenging 10 years! She has had numerous hospital visits for ICD implantation's, and surgery.

in February 2017 - she went into cardiac arrest and her ICD saved her life!

Lucy is an inspiration! She is a happy go lucky person who sees the best in everything! I am now fund raising for C-R-Y to raise awareness for young people who have a life threatening conditions; and to raise funds for promoting screening programmes and medical research into these conditions.

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions; Lucy is one of the lucky ones!
