The Maple Tree is a wonderful family centre in Wheatley which hosts numerous events for families and provides a safe, welcoming space for weary parents and caters to come and have a cup of tea, a chat and meet other local families. 

When we moved back to Wheatley from Australia, we didn’t know many people with babies and there didn’t seem to be that much to do with babies given the weather is nearly always terrible. The Maple Tree helped us to meet other parents and gave me somewhere to go during the long, and sometimes lonely, weeks where Zoe could play with other babies and I could chat to other parents/carers. I’ve met so many lovely people through The Maple Tree and now that I’m back at work, my mum takes Zoe on the day she looks after her so it’s a multi-generational centre! They provide a vital service for local families and we want to give back for all they’ve done for us. 

Therefore, I’m running the local 10k with other Maple Tree parents. In addition, Zoe will be doing the Teddy Toddle where we will dress her up in some embarrassing attire and she will crawl/toddle (depending on where she’s at with general life skills) 100m (or more/less depending on her speed!).

We know times are tight so any donation is much appreciated and some positive thoughts for me who has barely run for the past two years wouldn’t go amiss! Thank you so much from all of us.
