Zoe Sleeps Out!

Launchpad's Big Sleep Out 2019 · 10 October 2019 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Launchpad Reading is 40-years-old this year. It was originally founded as a soup kitchen in 1979 by a group of students at the University of Reading and now provides a holistic service to help vulnerable people in the town and help to combat homelessness. Launchpad have a wealth of services, including legal advice, floating support, therapeutic activities, training, education and employment.
Reading Borough Council reported earlier this year that the number of rough sleepers had dropped at the end of 2018 from the previous year, however it still remains a huge issue in the town. Details of a government report shared by Get Reading earlier this year stated that the number of homeless people who died in the town between 2013-17 was three times higher than the national average.
In 2018, Launchpad helped over 1,400 people in Reading to get off the streets, find permanent accommodation and get back on their feet, a number which has doubled in just four years. The charity need all the help and support they can get to carry on the vital service they provide and to help keep more vulnerable people safe which is why I decided to take part in this year's Big Sleep Out at the Abbey Ruins on Thursday 10th October 2019 (World Homelessness Day). If you can spare a few pennies to help me towards my goal of £200 I would be really grateful. Thank you. :)
