Story
I'm a first time marathon runner and am taking on the London Marathon for SIA to help people who are affected by spinal cord injury to live fulfilled lives. There are around 50,000 people living with a spinal cord injury (SCI) in the UK, and approximately 2,500 people sustain or acquire a spinal cord injury each year. That's one person every eight hours.
As many of you know, our Dad Pete, sustained a spinal injury after a fall and SIA provided advice and undertook the role of advocate in a daunting meeting when applying for funding for Dad’s care. Sadly, Dad passed away in October 2021, but with SIA’s guidance, he was cared for as best as could be.
Our family are grateful for the assistance we received and by committing to raising at least £2,000 for SIA, it will go towards the amazing services and support that they provide to spinal injury survivors and their families.
How your donation can help:
£200 helps provide support to hospitals for a day
£50 could help provide a healthcare professional to attend a spinal study day
£10 can help ensure a SCI person gets the appropriate care.
It will be a huge challenge for me! Please donate as little or as much as you can, as your donation will help the SIA to continue to support these families.
Thanks for your support.
