Story
On 28th December 2022 we'll be joining others for a sea swim to raise money for Aurora New Dawn.
Average winter water temp at Southsea is 8 degrees so it's going to be...chilly.
Despite having done this once before and vowing never, ever to repeat the experience, Zoe somehow managed to convince Martin it wasn't that bad, and he agreed to join in. No backing out now.
Ever wished either one of us (or both) would just get in the sea? Now's your chance to make it happen. Please donate if you can and/or come down to support on the day. We'd love to see you there.
10:30: Meet at beach hut across from Coffee cup, Southsea seafront (Eastney end).
11:00 - Sea swim/dip
About Aurora New Dawn:
In the UK, a woman is killed every three days by a man and one woman every four days is killed by a current or former partner. We also know that statistically, on average, three women commit suicide every week as a result of the impact of male violence.
From 01/04/2021 - 31/03/2022 Aurora supported 2,522 victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence and/or stalking across its network of services. The support we offer is tailored to individual need and includes one to one work, group recovery programmes, an out of hours helpline, and a crisis response service alongside officers from Hampshire Constabulary. Since 2015 we have also provided a dedicated service to armed forces personnel and/or their dependents, in recognition of the additional barriers faced by service women and men in disclosing abuse.
