Story

Waterberg Rhino is a UK based charity raising funds for rhino protection and community support in the Waterberg, South Africa. A stunning safari destination, the region is home to one of 3 last remaining bastions of rhino. With this comes the responsibility of protecting this iconic animal from killing due to the illegal wildlife trade. The reality is that rhinos need 24-hour protection from the scourge of poaching for its horn. It is an expensive and relentless situation. The aim of the Ride is to raise funds to provide protection for these magnificent animals, while supporting the community which has to cope with the pressures that the illegal wildlife trade forces on it. The 12 riders taking part will require skill and stamina to spend 6 to 7 hours a day in the saddle, over a week of riding through the spectacular Waterberg landscape. All costs associated with the Ride are covered by each individual rider so that every penny raised will go to direct to helping this vital cause.
