Story
I was fortunate enough to compete at the Invictus Games in Orlando in 2016. This was a pivotal event in my rehabilitation, having been medically discharged from the Royal Navy with a back injury.
Competing at The Games gave me so much. It provided a headmark, the training gave me a much needed confidence boosting reminding me that I could still achieve physical feats and pushing me to achieve more during training, and being an Invictus Athlete gave me 101 opportunities (this being one...!). Without The Games, I would not be where I am today; thriving in London, with an incredible career at Deliveroo.
The Invictus Games embodies the most inspiring spirit and uses the power of sport for recovery. Invictus means Unconquered, and all those that are involved with the Games benefit from it's magic; they are unconquerable.
Running was my nemesis when I was injured, so, to be able to complete the London Marathon, in a city that I now call my home and love living in, will be the finest gift I could ask for as part of my recovery journey.
I AM THE MASTER OF MY FATE: I AM THE CAPTAIN OF MY SOUL.
