Brighton Half Marathon 2012 · 19 February 2012 ·
Hi everyone!
Thanks for making it to my page. This is all a bit last minute but some seriously cool people (you know who you are) told me that I should do this half marathon to raise money for charity and here we are!
I've chosen the Alzheimer's Society as we are all living longer and as this happens more people succumb to age-related diseases such as Dementia. There are over 100 different types of Dementia (Alzheimers is one) and it is progressive meaning it only gets worse. There are over 750,000 people in the UK with dementia and 16% of those are under 65.
Money raised will go towards helping people cope with dementia today and search for a cure for tomorrow (when we are old!)
So I'm running (yes running...non stop) for 13.something miles around Brighton because my dear friend Harriet asked me to in October and it sounded like a good idea at the time. Damn you wine! Anyway I've been training since then and can actually run for a while now without collapsing on the floor.
The big day is February 19th and I'm looking to finish it and do it in a semi-decent time, so if you feel like supporting me or this cause or BOTH then give what you can.
Thanks ever so much and I'll be sincerely looking forward to a pie and a pint in the evening ;-).
Here's some schpiel about gift aid...
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Cheers peeps!
