Zoe's 10th London Marathon
Fundraising for Back Up
Fundraising for Back Up
Hello all!
It's London Marathon time and once again I will be running for the charity Back Up. It will be my 10th London Marathon!! and judging how hard it has been to train for this one it might possibly be my last...but then again....
The reason for the rather patchy training can be lain at the feet of a new family addition by the name of Tommy!
Back Up is a great charity that offers support and opportunities for people that have been spinally injured through an accident. It also gives people the chance to participate in sports again or for the first time. You name it they do it - skiing, sailing, waterskiing, skydiving, canoeing to name just a few!! They have also introduced acting workshops.
It is a relatively small charity so any sponsorship large and even larger will be greatly appreciated. I appreciate that there is a credit munch going on, but these charities need our donations as much as ever.
I would love to raise over £1500 this year so please dig deep into your pockets and sponsor me. As some of you will know, it's one hard slog getting round 26 miles!! However, knowing that it is going to benefit someone personally really does keep you going.
If anyone is free and in London on 17th April I would LOVE any support.
Many many thanks,
Zoe
The Back-Up Trust
3 people everyday in the UK are left permanently paralysed through spinal cord injury. Coming to terms with the disability and life in a wheelchair is a struggle for anyone and the mental effects can be as devastating as the physical, with suicide rates 5 times the national average. The Back-Up Trust is a national charity that works to enable individuals to regain the independence, self-belief and motivation that paralysis takes away. Through Back-Up's programme of outdoor activity courses, events and peer support it provides opportunities for people to prove to themselves that paralysis needn't be a barrier to a full and active life. Back-Up receives no government funding and so relies entirely on voluntary donations to continue in this work.
