Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising money for The Lauren Currie Twilight Foundation which was established in 2010 in the memory of Lauren Currie who died at the age of 15 from Wegener's Granulomatosis.  My Dad, John Davies, also died from Wegener’s Granulomatosis. He was only 58.

Wegener's Granulomatosis is a very rare disease which attacks many different organs in the body, often the kidneys and lungs, because blood vessels become severely inflamed (known as vasculitis) reducing blood supply to affected organs. My Dad had been recently diagnosed, however, the symptoms came on too quickly and aggressively for him to respond to the treatment given.

This charity is close to my heart due to the loss of my Dad; as it is a local charity set up by Lauren's parents in memory of their daughter and as Lauren was a pupil at Williamwood High School which my own children will also attend.

The charity is fully committed to raising awareness of Wegener's Granulomatosis and providing grants for research to identify causes and improved treatments. More awareness of this disease and funding for research will save many lives and help those living with the disease have a better quality of life.
