Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

as most of you know our world was turned upside down before Christmas 2014 when derek was diagnosed with a grade 2 brain tumour, he had an operation to remove as much of the tumour as possible in April 2015 and has been receiving 6 monthly check ups since then. Unfortunately in August 13th this year we had the devistating news that the tumour has regrown so will now undergo 6 weeks daily radiotherapy and 12 months of chemotherapy.

The information and support group they have set up is incredible helped us through very hard uncertain times and we will be forever in debt, however more importantly they fund research which is badly needed here are some hard facts that show why support is needed

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killers in adults under 40 and children

9100 people are diagnosed each year with a brain tumour but in reality that could be much more as many go undiagnosed

5000 people per year loose their lives to brain tumours

Brain tumours reduce life expectancy by 20 years on average

The only real hope is more research in this field ........ Over £500 million is spent on cancer research each year yet SHOCKINGLY LESS than 2% is spent on brain tumours!!

The brain tumour charity rely 100% on donations and are the leading charity in their field, they invest 7 times more into research.

Thanks in advance for helping us give something back to a charity who helps us continually and to contribute to research for this horrific disease
