Story
The end of this year will mark not only what would have been Mia's 10th Birthday, but also 10 years since we had to say goodbye to a beautiful little girl who was too precious for this earth. We couldn't let this year pass us by without raising money for a great cause in her memory as well as setting ourself a little challenge along the way. So this Summer, we are taking to the skies and doing a Leap of Love Skydive for SANDS in her memory. We're terrified!! But the fear of jumping out a plane can't be worse than that we faced 10 years ago saying goodbye to a much loved daughter/ sister/ niece/ granddaughter. We aim to raise £1000 between us.... no mean feat we know! But here we go.... 🪂
Mia's Story...
Mia was born at 35weeks by emergency c-section on the 23rd December 2013 at 12:06am weighing a tiny 4lb 5oz. To us she was our beautiful, perfect little girl but Mia was born extremely poorly with Congenital lung hypoplasia. She was transferred to the Special Care Baby Unit where the amazing staff worked tirelessly to care for our precious little girl. At 6.30am, while lay in her mummy's arms, she grew her angel wings and went to sleep with the most precious angels forever. Not a day goes by that we don't think about her, visit her at her special little garden or talk about her. She's a much loved member of our little family, a greatly missed daughter and sister. Forever our 'Baby' Mia.
By taking on a tandem skydive for Sands this summer all money raised will go towards their core aims. To support bereaved families and save babies lives. Because of their fundraisers, vital research can continue in helping to reduce the number of babies dying each day.
This is what donations mean to Sands
£20 enables Sands to provide a memory box to parents so they can start making memories with their baby
£140 provides one full day of bereavement care training for healthcare professionals
£580 a day keeps our helpline open and free for every caller
£840 can sponsor an entire day of training for 20 midwives!
£1,500 is needed on average to run one local support group for a year
