The charity is The Muir Maxwell Trust, this is a childrens epilepsy organisation and it entirely relies on donations and does not receive any funding from the government.

The reason for the event is because my six year old son has recently been given a special epilepsy alarm system, which is much needed. Each alarm costs £500 and is unavailable on the NHS. My son is now able to sleep in his own room for the first time in his life and i also can sleep, knowing that if he takes a fit, the alarm lets me know within 7 seconds. It has made such a huge difference to our lives.

We are organising an "Action packed show" on the 18th March at the Corporation club, Hartlepool. The show includes various perfromances from local talent, including Lewis Laking (who performed on TV with Russel Watson) and UK hip hop semi finalists Ruff Diamond.

All money raised will be donated to the Muir Maxwell trust, we are hoping to do a raffle and have some prizes donated by businesses, we will be selling tickets for £3 each. Any help available wil be hugely appreciated, cash donations or prizes for the raffle. Our aim is to raise enough funds to help another child out with one of these life saving alarms.

When you are looking after a child with severe epilepsy, every waking minute of every day and every night is consumed with the anticipation of a seizure. Sleep deprivation becomes the norm. Night-time seizures are dangerous and there is a risk of death (SUDEP).

It is not unusual for children to sleep with their parents. Many parents check on their children throughout the night and the loss of sleep and the stress for the whole family is immense.

But there is an answer. For those children who have continual movement for seven seconds or more as a result of a seizure, MMT will provide an epilepsy alarm. The epilepsy alarm provides peace of mind and allows many families to have a proper night’s sleep for the first time in years. http://www.muirmaxwelltrust.com/
