The Big Sleep Out 2024!!!

Cheltenham Half Marathon = COMPLETED!!!

Now on to the next event... The Big Sleep Out 2024!

On the 25th January myself and several colleagues will be spending the night sleeping outside in an attempt to raise money for CCP in their battle to prevent homelessness! This experience will be just a very small glimpse into the experiences of a homeless person and I am looking to raise a further £1,000 in addition to the £1,570 raised for CCP so far this year!

Now is a more prevalent time than ever to support a charity like CCP and I will be raising awareness, taking part in various fundraising activities and volunteering for this charity throughout my year(s) as President of the Insurance Institute of Cheltenham and Gloucester.

CCP is a fantastic charity, whose objectives are to prevent the causes and reduce the effects of homelessness, family breakdown and exclusion. From their hamper scamper appeal, which organises Christmas presents for children who would not otherwise receive them, to their pantry project. An alternative to traditional food banks, where members can choose from healthy and fresh food and essential household items to the value of approximately £15, for £3.50 a week. By visiting the Pantry each week, the CCP support workers can develop a relationship with the clients and signpost them to other services that can provide debt advice, housing advice, mental health, and family support. This is just a small number of initiatives that CCP offer, more information can be found at Caring for Communities and People (ccp.org.uk)

Everyone deserves a full belly each night and every child deserves a present to open on Christmas morning, this wouldn't be possible for many people without the help of CCP. When there is family breakdown, effects of the rising cost of living putting families and young people at risk of homelessness and poor living conditions, CCP step in with their wonderful services and support.

This charity, and the causes it supports hold a very special place in my heart so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me in raising money to support CCP in growing their reach across Cheltenham, Gloucester and the southwest and improving the lives of so many people.

Summary of fundraising:

Cheltenham Half Marathon - £1,370

Ecclesiastical personal grant - £200

Big sleep out - £237 as at 22/01
