Story

This is our beautiful daughter Zoe Alice Chapman.  Tragically on 19 November 2018, after only 4 weeks, Zoe lost her short fight with heart failure.

On 21 October 2018, Zoe was admitted to Bristol Children's Hospital and after 2 weeks was transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital in the hope of a heart transplant.  Despite fighting every setback and complication, our darling Zoe passed away at Great Ormond Street. Her illness came out of the blue to us as a family. She was just 15 years old and had spent her 15th birthday at Bristol Children's Hospital whilst recovering from a previous operation to remove a blood clot in September 2018.

Zoe's passing has obviously had a massive effect on us as a family and we are still in the early stages of processing our grief and trying to live with our new normal.  Zoe was such a massive personality, the most beautiful girl inside and out and made a huge impact on everyone she met.  She had hopes and dreams like any teenager and was looking forward to achieving her ambition of becoming a primary school teacher.

Zoe's godfathers indicated they wished to start fundraising in Zoe's memory this year.  We agreed we would like to give something back to the Dolphin cardiac ward at Bristol Children's Hospital (our local children's hospital) as Zoe spent 2 weeks there in the early stages of her illness whilst undergoing numerous investigative tests.  We are told Zoe made a huge impact on the staff there, who in turn have been amazing to ourselves as a family in their support both whilst Zoe was on the ward and to date.  The ward need 6 new ECG heart monitors at a total cost of £9,000 and we wish to try and raise as much money throughout the year as we can to put towards these monitors and if possible, pay for them outright by the end of the year.  The wider fundraising initiative is the Wallace & Gromit Appeal for Bristol Children's Hospital but any money raised in Zoe's memory will specifically go towards the heart monitors for the Dolphin ward in Zoe's name.

So far, as a family we will be taking part in the following events:-

Saturday 13 April 2019 - Wensleydale Wander - 23 mile walk (Jason and Ben) and a 12 mile walk  (Naomi) through the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

Sunday 18 August 2019 - Tough Mudder South West 5k challenge (Jason, Naomi & Ben together with numerous friends)

Sunday 8 September 2019 - Chippenham Half Marathon (Jason & James D'Souza one of Zoe's godfathers)

Sunday 20 October 2019 - Great South Run - 10 miles (Jason)

Further events will be added once finalised.  We are funding these events ourselves.

Please check out other JustGiving pages set up by family and friends by searching in Zoe's Chapman's memory, particularly Zoe's godfathers James D'Souza and Bruce Abel who are taking on huge challenges throughout the year in Zoe's memory.

Future pages will be set up by other family and friends who will undertake fundraising events throughout the year.  Each JustGiving page has their own individual personal target but ultimately all pages will be linked - to see the overall memorial page please click Zoe's name to the right of the candle logo under the target figure.
