Story
Wooohooo!! So I completed the Tel Aviv Marathon yesterday morning!!
We had everything from rain & clouds, to blue skies & burning sun, to a strong sea wind! There were uphills, there were downhills. There were highs, there were lows - I don't really remember the last 6miles or so!
But I crossed the line slightly before 3:45, all in one piece (except from a toenail or two) and eventually got enough hand/mouth coordination back to eat a banana & drink some water!!
Massive thank you to all my sponsors and people who have spread the word and supported me! It means so much for the charity - they've been in touch with me over the last few weeks and they really are very gratetful, as am I. Thank you!!
This is how running the Tel Aviv Marathon came about....(sort of)
"One day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run.
So I ran to the end of the road,
and when I got there, I thought maybe I'd run to the end of town.
And when I got there, I thought maybe I'd just run across Devon County.
Now, thinking since I'd run this far, maybe I'd just run across
the great state of England.
And that's what I did. I ran clear across England.
No particular reason.
I just kept on going.
I ran clear to the British Channel.
And when I got there, I figured since I'd gone this far,
I might as well just keep on going.
And when I got to the Mediterranean Sea,
I figured since I'd gone this far,
I might as well keep right on going.
When I got tired, I slept.
When I got hungry, I ate.
When I had to go...
you know... I went.
And so, I just ran."
I am going to be running the Tel Aviv Marathon and raising money for Interact Worldwide. Interact works on issues of reproductive and sexual health countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America, focusing specifically on the most marginalised communities and individuals. It really is an amazing organization which is doing extremely important work around the world - more info here: http://www.interactworldwide.org/
The event takes place at the end of March (eeekk!!) giving me a couple more weeks to get some more training in and hopefully raise a bit of money for Interact. Please feel free to donate as much or as little as you can afford (I understand that times are hard) - everything is very much appreciated!!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
