Story
"The victims of injustice in our world do not need our spasms of passion; they need our long obedience in the same direction - our legs and lungs of endurance; and we need sturdy stores of joy." Gary Haugen, CEO & Founder of IJM
This year I started a new role leading the work of International Justice Mission (IJM) in Scotland. I am so grateful (if daunted!) for the opportunity to use my lungs in new ways as we raise our voices for the 50 million held in slavery today 📣
As my lungs are tested, I thought why not stretch the old legs too, so am taking on 4️⃣ challenges...
- Edinburgh Marathon, 29th May (26 miles) ✅ in 4hrs35mins
- Parish Walk, 18-19th June (85 mile walk in 24 hours, through the Isle of Man's 17 parishes) ✅ in 23hr54mins
- Isle of Man Triathlon, 4th September (750m swim, 20k cycle, 5k run) ✅ in 1hr40mins
- Mount Kilimanjaro, 11th October 🏔
One of my biggest privileges of 4.5 years with IJM has been watching those I love become stirred by this work of justice. So many of you have generously partnered with IJM and been part of a story which is seeing entire nations changed (we've seen slavery reduced by up to 86% in areas we've worked!) thousands rescued and millions protected from ever experiencing slavery and violence in the first place. Thank you 🙏
I would be so grateful if you would consider partnering with me in this journey. Every £ a vote for the kind of world we want to live in. People of long obedience in the same direction, marked by sturdy stores of joy! 🤸♀️
Thank you for being part of this movement that won't stop, until all are free!
