Story
Our family was blessed with a beautiful girl who was affected by severe learning and physical disabilities. Her name was Zaynah Fatima. This little girl taught us all so much, and through her memory we want to fundraise for the charity Young Epilepsy, which focuses on delivering health services and research that improves diagnosis and treatment for Epilepsy which Zaynah suffered from.
Young Epilepsy supports children and young people throughout school, college and university. Anyone who knew Zaynah knew how contagious her smile was. Even though she was non-verbal, she would light up the room. She was a sparkle. We wanted her to experience everything in life, going on holidays, going to school, playing with her cousins. We were not going to let her disability make her anything less than special.
Our princess sadly left us at the young age of 6, but with the most beautiful memories.
We believe every child has a right to be empowered, regardless of their disability. As we enter the month of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar, Muslims are reminded to be generous and increase their charitable activities. As a result, during Ramadan, much charitable giving is done by the community.
We thought it would be a great time and opportunity for Muslims and Non-Muslims to support this great cause which raises awareness of Epilepsy and helps children and their families through providing diagnosis and treatment.
