Story
Asalamualikum,
This Ramadan my family and I are raising money to support Penny Appeal’s Fragile Lives cause. This is something very close to our hearts and a cause we so strongly believe in. All donations will help provide life-saving support to mothers and babies in the most poorest parts of Pakistan and Kenya. Your Sadaqah can help save hundreds of lives.
"And whoever saves a life, it will be as if he had saved all of humanity." Quran (5:32)
Every 8 seconds a baby needlessly dies somewhere around the world, leaving mothers and entire families devastated. In Pakistan alone, 400,000 babies die before their first birthday. This translates to one every single minute. Many deaths occur from preventable causes such as infection, a lack of vaccination, or malnutrition.
Fragile Lives seeks to provide life saving support to mothers and babies in Pakistan and Kenya, providing vital medical services, maternal care and nutrition to make sure more women have safe deliveries and mothers and babies don't just survive, but thrive.
Every donation will be DOUBLED by the UK Government! If you donate £50, so does the UK government, making your donation a staggering £100! This means we'll be able to reach even more mothers and babies in Pakistan and Kenya.
”Allah knows what every female carries and what the wombs lose prematurely or exceed. And everything with Him is by due measure.” Quran (13:08)
What your donations can do:
Good nutrition for both mothers and babies can make a world of difference. If a mother is well nourished, she will be healthy and strong for her baby, better able to breastfeed and more likely to survive pregnancy related complications. For babies, good nutrition from birth means they will grow stronger and more resilient, with each day of life.
£30 - a safe delivery kit to help a mother deliver her baby at home without the fear of disease or fatal complications during childbirth. Kits include vital basic equipment, fresh towels, female sanitation items, and baby wraps. Each kit will also include essential vitamins and minerals for the mother.
£150 - helps support a doctor for one month to provide medical and nutrition care to mothers and babies most in need.
£300 - supports a family break out of the poverty cycle through our sustainable livelihood programme, making them food secure for life. Women will receive training in agricultural methods, animal protection, bee-keeping, farming and water preservation. They will then use these skills to set up their own businesses with the help of a grant and support in business plan developments, helping them put food on the table for their families for decades to come.
£500 - helps support the entire staff of a life-saving nutrition clinic for one month. Each nutrition clinic will provide crucial treatment for 1,000 severely malnourished children and babies, alongside offering quality medical services and support to thousands of Pakistan and Kenya’s poorest women.
