Story
Well, I am 70 on the 3rd Sept, so I thought I would register reaching such
an ancient age by cycling from Zaragoza (220 miles north of Madrid) to
Gibraltar. Slightly, mad I know but I have always loved cycling. I have decided to set off on Wednesday 11 Sept from London St. Pancras on to Gare du Nord. Then from Gare du Lyon on to Barcelona Sants
and finally on to Zaragoza. Hoping to reach Gibraltar sometime mid to third week in October!
One of the charities I am raising funds for is ST. RAPHAEL’S HOSPICE who are based in Cheam which is not too far away from where I live in Balham. Finding a safe place to offer palliative care for people who are coming to the end of their life in a dignified and pleasant environment, is becoming more important. As people live longer there is a demand for good organisations like this one. St Raphael’s Hospice provides
expert care in their specialist unit in Cheam as well as in patient’s familiar surroundings of their own homes. They also provide counselling sessions to support families and friends through the difficult bereavement process. 80% of St. Raphael’s services are funded through the generosity of the local community, meaning that over £4million needs to be raised every year.
