Thank you Zal, your family and friends for supporting UNICEF. Your generosity will ensure we are there for children whenever and wherever we are needed.
In 2020, UNICEF responded to 455 humanitarian situations in 152 countries including 102 natural disasters, 211 health emergencies, 38 nutrition crises and 32 other situations.'
TEN YEARS OF CONFLICT
In Syria, ten years of conflict have devastated the country. A whole generation of have grown up knowing nothing but war. Children have lost their homes, their schools and even their families. Many face unspeakable violence, a lack of access to food, health care and clean water, as well as an increased risk of disease.
Your gift will help UNICEF teams on the ground to reach children
with life-saving supplies, including food, clean water and medical care as well as the education and protection services they need to not just survive but thrive.
You will also support children and families who have been
displaced from their homes by the conflict and who are now living in refugee settlements across Syria and in neighbouring countries such as Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq.
A CRISIS WITHIN A CRISIS
In the Tigray region of Ethiopia, armed conflict has displaced more than 1 million people since November 2020. An already dire situation has been made worse as Ethiopia is currently experiencing high levels of food insecurity. Without vital aid, vulnerable families in Ethiopia could be pushed into famine in the coming months.
33,000 children are at risk of severe malnutrition, and possibly death.
This crisis is unfolding just as a deadly second wave of coronavirus infections is sweeping across Eastern and Southern Africa. Since conflict broke out, reporting on COVID-19 cases in Tigray has stopped, placing children and their families at risk of not receiving the urgent treatment that they need.
These are just two of the ongoing emergencies that UNICEF teams on the ground are responding to - day in, day out.
In 2021, we are aiming to reach 190 million children and families with essential, life-saving support.
With your generous support, UNICEF can do just that and continue to support every child everywhere – no matter what. Thank You.
