Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am aiming to run 20-25k by the end of Ramadan.

Maternal mortality remains unacceptably high. 800 women die each day across the globe, from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. Taking into account stillbirths and death of newborns, a mother or her newborn baby will die during childbirth every 11 seconds

Many of us are fortunate enough to be born in to healthcare systems where an expectant mother has every chance to nurture her newborn and experience the beauty of motherhood. Sadly, for too many women in developing countries, the moment of bringing a new life into this world comes with the potential risk of losing their own.

Pakistan has among the poorest pregnancy outcomes worldwide, significantly worse than many other low-resource countries. For every 100,000 live births in Pakistan, approx' 170 women will die. In the UK the number is 7.

One of the primary aims of Save the Mother's Trust, first established in 2003, was to build a local maternity clinic in Haripur to provide essential medical care for expecting mothers. With your support this goal has been achieved and the charity has gone from strength to strength and was deservingly awarded 'Charity of the year 2019' at the British Muslim Awards.

The maternity clinic has, over the years, assisted many women through pregnancy and delivery. Given its rural location it has undoubtedly saved the lives of many women and their newborn children.

Currently the maternity hospital is equipped to manage low risk women during pregnancy and birth. We intend to manage and care for more women in the future and to offer surgical options for delivery. For this we need to equip an operating room, train more staff and ensure our facility meets the best standards of care.

skilled pair of hands to help mothers and newborns around the time of birth, along with clean water, adequate nutrition, basic medicines and vaccines, can make the difference between life and death.

We need YOUR support to be this difference. Your contribution, however large or small, will go a long way in helping us stay true to our pledge to Save the Mothers!

Please give generously or any amount you can...each contribution will make a huge difference. Thank you for your support.

Please donate your Zakat, Sadaqah and Lillah to this worthy cause. Please clearly reference any Zakat payments
