Story
We are walking the challenging but special Arbaeen walk from the city of Najaf to the city of Karbala in Iraq in memory of Imam Hussain (as) whose martyrdom 1400 years ago inspires millions to this day.
Noor Orphans Fund Education support scheme was launched in the summer of 2013. We know that by helping orphans gain an education they will be equipped to break out of the cycle of poverty and realise a better future for themselves and their families. Although public schools are funded by the government in Iraq, deprived families often struggle to send their children to school due to not being able to afford stationery costs, uniforms and transport to and from school. As a result, many orphans do not attend school while some are forced to work in order to support their family and therefore drop out of school all together.
Noor Orphans Fund are working to make sure orphans are able to continue with their education and are given a chance for a brighter future.
It only costs £20 to send a child to school this September. By raising money to pay for uniforms, stationery, shoes and a backpack, we can ensure that orphans have the chance that every child deserves, access to an education and thus better future prospects for themselves and their family.
With your help, we can make a difference.
Last years 2018 Back to School campaign supported 3,938 orphans and their siblings access essential education supplies. Throughout the year the Education Support Programme helps many more orphans with transport costs and private tuition for those who need it and they are hence able to do very well in their exams. Noor Orphans Fund also provides some students over the age of 16 with approximately £30 per month if they require support to continue into high school.
