Story

Hello all!

In April, I'll be taking on the London Marathon for The Lakes Calvert Trust who offer all the exciting outdoor activities for people with disabilities. Their goal of letting everyone enjoy the beauty of nature and try new, challenging things like water sports, rock climbing and horse riding.

As a teacher, I see how schools that are stretched for funding and focused on exams don't always prioritise getting kids outside and experiencing all the mental and physical health benefits that come with it. That's why I'm so grateful for charities like The Calvert Trust, who are dedicated to making sure everyone can have the adventure of a lifetime in our stunning wild places. You can read more here: https://www.calvertlakes.org.uk/

I will also cycle 1,500km from Greece to Croatia, traversing through Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro and Bosnia, ascending the equivalent of two Everests. Then I'll head back to London for the race.

So if you're feeling generous, please consider supporting my marathon run to help The Calvert Trust continue their important work.

Thank you a lot a lot a lot!

About the charity

The Lake District Calvert Trust provides residential outdoor activity courses for people of all ages with physical, sensory, learning, behavioural and/or mental disabilities. Its mission is to challenge disability through outdoor adventure. Pioneering equipment adaptations, and intensive, instructor-led activity programmes (that include climbing, abseiling, canoeing, sailing, horse/trap driving, archery, orienteering and paragliding), provide an environment whose aims are to teach, challenge, motivate, engender confidence in ability, promote independence, and foster integration. All instructors are highly trained and specialist qualified, and the facilities are specially adapted and fully accessible to all. The Lake District Calvert Trust provides a unique and life-changing experience for those with disabilities, who are encouraged to believe that it’s what you CAN do that counts.
