Story
I am fundraising for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity in an effort to give seriously ill children and young people a better opportunity to excel in life.
A 23-year-old triathlete, I first entered the sport of triathlon after being inspired by London 2012. Inspiration is an overwhelming power of sport but what I didn't realise is its capacity to become a goal. I continue to participate in triathlon to reach my full potential but I am even prouder to be able to compete in this wonderful sport for another, much more important cause as part of Team Hatch, fundraising for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.
I first met James Hatchley, the founder of Team Hatch in January 2017. I am Head Triathlon Coach at Athlete Lab and James joined the lab to improve his cycling. James was on a journey towards Challenge Roth in 2018, an awe-inspiring challenge, and classed as one of the toughest endurance races in the world. James sadly lost his daughter in 2014 to an extremely rare disease, called Churg Strauss Syndrome. She was cared for by the wonderful team of experts at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Since then, James has put in a relentless and amazing effort to support the people and the institution of Great Ormond Street Hospital. James has channelled this same degree of dedication into obtaining the goal of achieving a sub 6 hour Half Ironman overall time, to which I have personally witnessed. I am honoured that he asked me to be part of Team Hatch, and I am committed to helping him achieve both his sporting and fundraising ambitions. Together as a team, we are embarking on a special journey, in the memory of Emma to improve the health and well-being of children and young people not just within the United Kingdom but on a global scale.
Help me to transform 4 hours of swim, bike, run (at least this is the time I am hoping to achieve) into so much more... the opportunity at life!
