Story
I was born eight weeks early on 26 January 2007. I was due to be born at the end of March that year.
I spent my first six weeks of life in hospital, moving from neonatal intensive care to high dependency and then on to the special care baby unit (scbu). I spent three of those weeks in an incubator and the rest in a cot on the baby unit, being looked after by incredible nurses, OTs and doctors.
I weighed just 2lb10oz at birth, but came home a huge 4.5lbs six weeks later. I then had regular check ups with the hospital for the next three years.
Now, nearly 13 years later, I want to show my appreciation for all the wonderful people who do so much to help all the babies who are born too soon. As my barmitzvah is fast approaching, it seems like the perfect opportunity to fundraise and give something back.
I loved the idea of the little lights walk - mum, dad and I will walk across London to raise money for Bliss on 24 December.
Bliss exists to give every baby born premature or sick in the UK the best chance of survival and quality of life.We champion their right to receive the best care by supporting families, campaigning for change and supporting professionals, and enabling life-changing research. Please help me raise money to improve survival rates of babies born premature or sick and help give them the best possible start in life.
