Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
Every 4 hours someone is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. In August 2021, I will be swimming the English Channel that should have been a 6 person team but looking more likely a 5 person team. The Channel is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, the average water temperature is around 18 degrees! The total distance depending on tides is around 21 miles and depending on conditions could increase to 40 miles plus. On average swims take around 12 hours to complete, it could be as long as 16 hours depending on conditions and our abilities as a team. There will be times when we will be swimming in the dark, with jellyfish and whatever the sea throws at us as well as dodging ferries and other shipping as well as diesel pollution. We are prepared to do this for people we have never even met. Please consider donating to this important charity. Since 1982, Aspire have been supporting people with spinal injuries by providing practical help including assistive technologies, accessible housing and independent living. The Aspire Leisure Centre based in Stanmore, was the first fully integrated community leisure centre in Europe for both disabled and non-disabled people. The centre is connected to the London Spinal Cord Injury Centre, allowing it to be regularly used in rehabilitation for people with Spinal Cord Injury. For more information follow this
